- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
- Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is specific for human and mouse AKT protein phosphorylated at T308.
BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with AKT pT308 from most vertebrate species based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence.
Cross-reactivity with AKT2 and AKT3 will likely occur.
Target Information
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase regulating cell survival. The activated enzyme inhibits apoptosis and promotes cell cycle progression by phosphorylating multiple targets in various cell types, including cancer cells.
Akt is activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors, promoting survival via inhibition of apoptosis through phosphorylation and inactivation of forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9.
The AKT pathway is a major focus in cancer drug discovery.
