TPSB2는 trypsin-like serine protease 계열인 tryptase 단백질을 암호화하는 유전자입니다.
Tryptase는 heparin 안정화된 tetramer 형태에서만 효소 활성을 가지며, 알려진 내인성 단백질분해효소 억제제에 저항성을 보입니다.
이 유전자는 염색체 16p13.3에 클러스터 형태로 존재하며, 3’ UTR 보존성이 높고 5’ 및 3’ UTR에 tandem repeat 서열을 포함합니다. 이러한 구조는 mRNA 안정성 조절에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
Mast cell에서는 β-tryptase가 주로 발현되며, basophil에서는 α-tryptase가 우세하게 발현됩니다.
Tryptase는 천식 및 기타 알레르기·염증성 질환의 병태생리에 관여하는 매개체로 알려져 있습니다.
