이 단백질은 neuron-specific chromatin remodeling complex (nBAF complex)의 구성원으로, 신경 발달 중 줄기/전구세포에서 성숙 뉴런으로의 전환 시 핵심적인 역할을 합니다. npBAF 복합체의 일부 구성요소가 nBAF 복합체의 DPF1/BAF45B, DPF3/BAF45C 등으로 대체되며, 이는 뉴런 분화에 필수적입니다. 또한 nBAF 복합체는 CREST와 함께 수상돌기 성장에 필요한 유전자 발현을 조절하는 데 관여합니다.
