이 단백질은 중심체와 섬모에 위치하며, N-글리코실화, 티로신 황산화, 인산화, N-미리스토일화, 그리고 아미드화의 잠재적 부위를 가지고 있습니다.
이 유전자의 변이는 Joubert 증후군과 신장형성장애(nephronophthisis)와 관련이 있으며, 이 단백질에 대한 항체는 여러 형태의 암과도 관련되어 있습니다.
