Product Specific Information
- Store vial at -20°C prior to opening.
- Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody reacts with the C-terminus of endogenous NAG-1 protein from human tissues.
A BLAST analysis suggests reactivity with NAG-1 from chimpanzee and macaque (100% homology).
Partial reactivity is expected against rat (86% homology).
Cross-reactivity with NAG-1 from other sources has not been determined.
Target Information
GDF-15 belongs to the TGF-beta cytokine family, which plays an important role during prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue remodeling.
It is expressed predominantly in the placenta and, to a lesser extent, in other tissues.
Elevated GDF-15 levels in amniotic fluid and maternal serum suggest roles in gestation and embryonic development.
GDF-15 generally exhibits tumor-suppressive activities and is induced by the p53 pathway.
Serum GDF-15 levels correlate with progression of several tumor types, including colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
