Product Specific Information

This antibody is directed against human mesothelin protein. Cross-reactivity with homologues from other sources has not been tested.
Target Information
Mesothelin is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored, cell-surface glycoprotein predominantly secreted by mesothelial cells. It is expressed at restricted levels in normal tissues but highly expressed in several cancers, including mesotheliomas, ovarian cystadenocarcinomas, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas.
Proteolytic cleavage of Mesothelin produces a soluble fragment called megakaryocyte potentiating factor (MPF), which may influence megakaryocyte proliferation and platelet production. Elevated expression of Mesothelin and MPF in tumors suggests their involvement in tumorigenesis, promoting tumor cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis.
