This antibody is specific for mouse Stat5a protein phosphorylated at Y694.
BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with Stat5a from human, mouse, and rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence.
Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined.

Target Information

STAT5 alpha is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases and form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators.
STAT5 alpha mediates responses to ligands such as IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and various growth hormones.
Activation of STAT5 alpha in myeloma and lymphoma associated with TEL/JAK2 gene fusion is independent of cell stimuli and is essential for tumorigenesis.
In mice, STAT5 alpha induces BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) expression, suggesting an antiapoptotic role.
STAT5 alpha and STAT5 beta share 96% sequence similarity and are co-expressed in most tissues, with differential expression in muscle and mammary tissue.
STAT5 alpha plays critical roles in reproduction, lactation, immune function, and growth.
