This antibody recognizes Daxx, a cytoplasmic death domain-containing protein mainly expressed in fetal and adult human and mouse tissue.
Target Information
The DAXX gene encodes a multifunctional protein localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. It interacts with various proteins such as Fas, centromere protein C, and transcription factor E26 homolog 1. In the nucleus, DAXX functions as a transcriptional repressor binding to sumoylated transcription factors. Its repression can be relieved by sequestration into promyelocytic leukemia nuclear bodies or nucleoli. DAXX also associates with centromeres during G2 phase and may regulate apoptosis in the cytoplasm. Its localization and function are modulated by post-translational modifications including sumoylation, phosphorylation, and polyubiquitination. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
