- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 min before staining.
Target Information
Members of the trefoil family possess at least one trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain with three conserved disulfide bonds. These stable secretory proteins are expressed in gastrointestinal mucosa and may:
- Protect mucosa from insults
- Stabilize the mucus layer
- Promote epithelial healing
The TFF1 gene, expressed in the gastric mucosa, is also associated with human tumors. It forms a gene cluster on chromosome 21 along with two related trefoil family genes.
