- Rat anti-Mouse CD71 antibody, clone YTA74.4 recognizes the mouse Transferrin receptor protein 1 (CD71, TfR1).
Target Information
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release, and the apotransferrin-receptor complex is recycled to the cell surface. Transferrin receptor is essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development. Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) is used to detect erythropoietin (EPO) misuse and as a diagnostic marker for various anemias, including those associated with rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy, irritable bowel syndrome, and HIV.
