Product Specific Information
- MA1-774 contains 100 µg of in vitro produced, protein A purified antibody (1 mg/mL) in PBS containing 1 mg/mL BSA and 0.05% sodium azide.
- Detects TIMP-2 from mouse samples.
- Validated for Western blot, immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
- In Western blot, detects a ~18–24 kDa band representing TIMP-2 from mouse platelets.
- Recommended blocking reagent: 3% BSA.
- Immunogen sequence (mouse TIMP-2, residues 56–66) is 100% conserved in human, rat, rabbit, chicken, and bovine TIMP-2.
Target Information
TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 are inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family, crucial for maintaining connective tissue integrity.
TIMP-2 binds strongly to both latent and active forms of 72 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-2/gelatinase A) and the active form of 92 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-9/gelatinase B).
It inhibits the proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells.
