• MA1-800 detects alpha Actinin 4 in human and mouse cells.

Target Information

Alpha actinins belong to the spectrin gene superfamily, a group of cytoskeletal proteins including alpha/beta spectrins and dystrophins.
They are actin-binding proteins with multiple roles across cell types:

• In nonmuscle cells: found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, linking actin to membranes.
• In muscle cells: localized to the Z-disc and dense bodies, anchoring myofibrillar actin filaments.
• The encoded nonmuscle isoform is cytoplasmic and may be involved in metastatic processes.
• Mutations in this gene are associated with focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis.
