PA1-931 detects calbindin D-28k protein in rat samples.
This antibody has been used successfully in Western blot, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, it detects a 28 kDa protein representing calbindin D from rat cerebellum and kidney extract.
In paraffin sections, immunohistochemical staining demonstrates cytoplasmic localization in epithelial cells of distal tubules in human kidney cortex.
The immunizing protein corresponds to purified 28 kDa calbindin-D from rat kidney.
Reconstitute in 100 µL PBS to create a 1 mg/mL stock solution.

Target Information

Calbindin-D-28K (vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein, or cholecalcin) is a highly conserved 28 kDa calcium-binding protein with broad tissue distribution.
It belongs to a family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs), including calmodulin, S-100, parvalbumin, and troponin C.
These CaBPs share homologous primary structures with conserved EF-hand motifs for Ca²⁺ binding.
Calbindin-D-28K is predominantly found in subpopulations of neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems and in epithelial cells involved in calcium transport, such as distal tubular and cortical collecting tubule cells of the kidney, and enteric neuroendocrine cells.
