Product Specific Information

PA1-929 detects KCNQ2 from mouse, human, and rat samples. This antibody is specific for KCNQ2 and does not detect KCNQ1, KCNQ3, KCNQ4, or KCNQ5.
It has been successfully used in Western blot, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry applications.
Immunohistochemical staining of rat hippocampal tissue using PA1-929 shows strong signals in the granule cell layer and mossy fibers of the dentate gyrus.
The immunogen is a GST fusion protein encoding the first 70 amino acids of human KCNQ2.

Target Information

KCNQs are members of the voltage-dependent non-inactivating potassium channel family.
There are five known KCNQs (KCNQ1–5) found in the central nervous system, with KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 being crucial for M-current activation.
KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 form heteromultimers that increase M-current amplitude, influencing neuron excitability and synaptic responsiveness.
Mutations in these proteins are linked to disorders such as benign familial neonatal convulsions (BFNC), deafness, neuropathic pain, and epilepsy.
