Product Specific Information
PA1-932 detects S100-alpha protein in bovine, human, mouse, porcine, and rat samples, and shows no cross-reactivity with S100-beta protein.
It has been validated for use in Western blot, ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistochemical procedures.
By Western blot, it detects a 10 kDa protein representing S100-alpha from human muscle.
Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections shows S100-alpha localization in serous cells, myoepithelial cells, and epithelial cells of intercalated ducts in the parotid gland.
S100 protein is relatively small; electrophoresis using tricine-SDS-PAGE gels and transfer to a nylon membrane is recommended.
The immunizing protein corresponds to purified S100-alpha from human pectoral muscle cells.
Reconstitute in 100 µL PBS to obtain a 1 mg/mL stock solution.
Target Information
S100 belongs to the calcium-binding protein family, including calmodulin and troponin C.
S100A consists of alpha and beta chains, while S100B consists of two beta chains.
S100 proteins are also expressed in antigen-presenting cells such as Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in lymph nodes.
