This antibody is specific to MGluR1a and does not cross-react with other splice variants.
Target Information
Glutamate is the main excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. It acts on ligand-gated receptor channels such as NMDA, AMPA, and kainate receptors involved in fast excitatory synaptic transmission. Additionally, glutamate regulates enzymes producing second messengers via metabotropic glutamate receptors coupled to G-proteins.
Group-I receptors (mGluR1a, mGluR5) stimulate phospholipase C, increasing phosphoinositide turnover and calcium release.
Group-II (mGluR2, mGluR3) and Group-III receptors are coupled to the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase.
