HYOU1은 heat shock protein 70 패밀리에 속하며, ER 내 단백질 접힘 및 분비에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 이 단백질의 발현 억제는 세포사멸 촉진과 관련이 있으며, 저산소 유도 세포 손상에 대한 세포 보호 기능을 가집니다. 특히 유방 종양 등 다양한 종양에서 상향 조절되어 종양 침습성과 관련이 있습니다. 세포질 내에서 housekeeping 기능을 가지며, ER 및 미토콘드리아에 모두 존재할 수 있습니다.
