Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins.
The RPS15 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S19P family. It is located in the cytoplasm and is known to be activated in various tumors such as insulinomas, esophageal cancers, and colon cancers.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
