This antibody detects endogenous levels of total MRPL47.
Target Information
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and assist in protein synthesis within mitochondria. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of small (28S) and large (39S) subunits and have approximately 75% protein to rRNA composition, unlike prokaryotic ribosomes. Mammalian mitoribosomes lack 5S rRNA, and their protein components vary significantly among species, making sequence homology recognition difficult. The MRPL47 gene encodes a 39S subunit protein and is adjacent to the BAF53a gene in a tail-to-tail orientation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
