This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RPS4Y1.
Target Information
Cytoplasmic ribosomes, which catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPS4Y1 gene encodes ribosomal protein S4, a component of the 40S subunit. It has a homologous gene, RPS4X, located on the X chromosome. Though the two isoforms are not identical, they are functionally equivalent. RPS4Y1 belongs to the S4E family of ribosomal proteins and may be associated with Turner syndrome, though this remains controversial. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are present throughout the genome.
