Product Specific Information

The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFNγ), a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells with antiviral and antiparasitic activity. IFNγ synergizes with TNFα to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells and exerts immunomodulatory effects on various cell types expressing IFNγ receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

  • Applications Reported: Intracellular flow cytometric analysis
  • Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometry on activated human cells
  • Recommended Usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
  • Excitation/Emission: 488–561 nm / 578 nm
  • Compatible Lasers: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green
  • Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon):

  • Macrophage activation factor produced mainly by T-lymphocytes and NK cells
  • Dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits
  • Exhibits antiviral, antitumor, and immunomodulatory functions
  • Induces MHC class I/II expression and enhances B cell immunoglobulin secretion
  • Acts via IFNγ receptor I/II and JAK-STAT signaling
  • Human IFNγ shows ~40% sequence homology with mouse IFNγ and is species-specific
  • Upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN
  • Mutations associated with aplastic anemia
