Product Specific Information

The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFNγ), a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells with antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It acts synergistically with TNFα to inhibit cell proliferation and modulate immune responses across various cell types expressing IFNγ receptors.

  • Applications Tested: Validated by flow cytometry of activated human cells
  • Recommended Usage: ≤ 0.25 µg/test in 100 µL final volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
  • Excitation: 488–561 nm

  • Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered

Target Information

IFNγ (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor primarily produced by T-lymphocytes and NK cells in response to antigens and cytokines. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) consisting of two 146-amino-acid subunits, showing species-specific biological activity.

Functions:

  • Antiviral and antiproliferative activity
  • Induction of MHC Class I and II
  • Macrophage activation
  • Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B cells
  • Cytokine regulation via JAK-STAT signaling

Regulation:

  • Upregulated by IL-2, FGF basic, EGF
  • Downregulated by Vitamin D₃ or DMN
  • Gene mutations linked to aplastic anemia

Human IFNγ does not cross-react with mouse IFNγ and shares ~40% sequence homology.
