Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific to a class III epitope on CD34, which is not susceptible to cleavage by neuraminidase, chymopapain, or glycoprotease.
Target Information
CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on many stem cell populations. It serves as a stem cell marker with reversible expression in human hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 may function as a surface receptor involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis and regulation of adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors. It is also thought to mediate attachment to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or stromal cells, potentially acting as a scaffold for lineage-specific glycans. CD34 can present carbohydrate ligands to selectins and may play a role in signal transduction via phosphorylation by activated protein kinase C. Diseases associated with CD34 dysfunction include dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
