For use as a blocking peptide in ELISA assays, incubate the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30 minutes at 37°C.

Target Information

Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, killing more than 30,000 people per year in the USA. Novel influenza virus strains caused by genetic drift and viral recombination emerge periodically, resulting in pandemics.
Influenza A can exist in various animals, but all subtypes are found in birds. Subtypes are classified based on combinations of hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) glycoproteins.
During 1997, an H5N1 avian influenza virus caused deaths in Hong Kong, with limited human-to-human transmission. HA interacts with cell surface proteins containing oligosaccharides with terminal sialyl residues. Virus isolated from an H5N1-infected human could bind to oligosaccharides from both human and avian sources, indicating species-jumping ability.
