This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CaMKII alpha/delta.
Target Information
The Ca²⁺/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CaM kinases) form a subfamily of serine/threonine kinases that includes CaMKI, CaMKII, and CaMKIV. CaMKII is a ubiquitously expressed kinase activated by Ca²⁺ and calmodulin (CaM), involved in regulating the cell cycle and transcription. There are four CaMKII isozymes—alpha, beta, gamma, and delta—which may be co-expressed in the same tissue. CaMKII alpha undergoes autophosphorylation on Thr286 upon Ca²⁺/CaM binding, a process known as Ca²⁺/CaM trapping, thought to play a role in synaptic information encoding.
