Target Information

Calcium Channel 1 is a protein encoded by the CACNB1 gene and belongs to the calcium channel beta subunit family.
It plays a critical role in calcium channel function by:

  • Modulating G protein inhibition
  • Increasing peak calcium current
  • Controlling alpha-1 subunit membrane targeting
  • Shifting voltage dependence of activation and inactivation

Dysfunction of this protein is associated with malignant hyperthermia susceptibility.
