Target Information
TIM3 (Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2, HAVCR2, T-cell immunoglobulin, mucin-domain containing-3) is a 281 amino acid, type I transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on terminally differentiated CD4⁺ Th1 and CD8⁺ Tc1 cells.
It contains an IgV-like domain and a mucin-like domain extracellularly, and a conserved tyrosine phosphorylation motif in the cytoplasmic region.
TIM3 plays roles in macrophage activation, autoimmune disease induction, down-regulation of Th1-mediated responses, and immune tolerance development.
Pathologically, TIM3 is associated with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a Th1-dependent autoimmune disease, and may enhance its severity in mice.
