Product Specific Information
- ABS 047-14-02 binds free canine NGAL.
- No cross-reaction with human, mouse, or rat.
- Can be used as a capture antibody in sandwich ELISA with biotinylated detection antibody ABS 047-17-02, detection limit 5 pg/mL (unoptimized buffer assay).
- Note: Concentration may vary by lot (0.85–1.15 mg/mL).
Target Information
NGAL (Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, lipocalin 2, siderocalin, and neutrophil lipocalin) is a 25 kDa glycosylated single-chain monomer belonging to the lipocalin family, which binds and transports small lipophilic molecules.
It is released by activated neutrophils, can form dimers or oligomers, and complexes with matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9, gelatinase B).
Low-level expression occurs in various epithelia and may increase with inflammation or cancer.
In the kidney, NGAL expression is dramatically increased by ischemic or nephrotoxic injury.
