Target Information
Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it binds DNA to form nucleosomes. Histones are essential for transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability.
Post-translational modifications of histone H3, including methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influence chromatin structure and gene expression. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 undergoes these modifications, affecting various cellular processes.
