Reconstitution:
Briefly centrifuge vial before opening to collect contents at the bottom. Reconstitute lyophilized human GDNF in sterile distilled water to 0.1–0.5 mg/mL. Divide stock into aliquots and store at ≤–20°C. Further dilute in medium or buffer containing carrier protein (e.g., PBS with 0.1% BSA).
Storage:
Lyophilized form: store at 2–8°C, preferably desiccated.
Reconstituted form: store at ≤–20°C (avoid frost-free freezer).
Minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
GDNF (Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor) is a glycosylated, disulfide-bonded homodimer first identified as a survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons. It has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in Parkinson’s disease models and shows approximately 100-fold greater efficacy for spinal motor neuron survival compared to neurotrophins. GDNF enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake.
