Reconstitution:
Centrifuge vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute lyophilized human GDNF in sterile, distilled water to 0.1–0.5 mg/mL. Prepare aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Further dilutions should be made in medium or buffered solution containing carrier protein (e.g., PBS with 0.1% BSA).

Storage:

  • Lyophilized form: store at 2–8°C, preferably desiccated.
  • Reconstituted form: store at ≤ -20°C (avoid frost-free freezer).
  • Minimize freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

GDNF (Glial cell line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) is a glycosylated, disulfide-bonded homodimer first identified as a potent survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons. It has been shown to rescue these neurons in animal models of Parkinson’s disease and is approximately 100 times more effective for spinal motor neuron survival than neurotrophins. GDNF enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake.
