Reconstitution: We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Reconstitute lyophilized human GDNF in sterile, distilled water to 0.1-0.5 mg/mL. These stock solutions should be apportioned into working aliquots and stored at ≤-20°C. Further dilution should be made in medium or buffered solution containing carrier protein, such as PBS with 0.1% BSA. Storage: Lyophilized human GDNF should be stored at 2°C to 8°C, preferably desiccated. Store reconstituted human GDNF at ≤-20°C (not in a frost-free freezer). Keep freeze-thaw cycles to a minimum.

Target Information

GDNF is a glycosylated, disulfide-bonded homodimer molecule. It was first discovered as a potent survival factor for midbrain dopaminergic neurons and was then shown to rescue these neurons in animal models of Parkinson`s disease. GDNF is about 100 times more efficient survival factor for spinal motor neurons than the neurotrophins. GDNF is a neurotrophic factor that enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake.
