Product Specific Information
PA1-4514 detects splice variants Nop30/ARC of the nucleolar protein Nop30 in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting a ~25 kDa recombinant Nop30 protein.
The immunogen corresponds to amino acid residues 125–141 of the 25 kDa human Nop30/ARC protein.
Target Information
ARC (also known as NOL3 - Nucleolar protein 3) has two isoforms:
- Isoform 1 – involved in RNA splicing
- Isoform 2 – functions as an apoptosis repressor blocking multiple modes of cell death
ARC inhibits extrinsic apoptotic pathways by:
- Interacting with FAS and FADD upon FAS activation to block DISC assembly
- Interacting with CASP8 in a mitochondria localization- and phosphorylation-dependent manner to limit soluble CASP8
ARC also inhibits intrinsic apoptotic pathways by interacting with BAX, preventing mitochondrial dysfunction and release of pro-apoptotic factors.
Mutations in this gene can result in myoclonus or familial cortical disorders.
