It has been successfully used in Western blotting procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a ~64 kDa protein representing PINK1 in transfected HEK293T cells.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 258–274 of human PINK1.
Target Information
PINK1 (PTEN-induced putative kinase 1) protects cells from mitochondrial dysfunction by conferring autophosphorylation activity to mitochondrial genes.
The kinase domain of PINK1 is critical for its protective effects.
Mitochondrial proteins regulate cellular energy and stress adaptation, particularly in brain cells with high energy demands.
Disruption of mitochondrial function in the brain is associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
