PA1-4516 detects Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 1 (mGluR1) in human, rat, and mouse samples.
Validated for use in Western blot and Immunohistochemistry applications.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 1159–1171 of the human GluR1 protein.
Store at 4°C for up to 3 months or at -20°C for longer periods. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Glutamate is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. Traditionally, it was known to act on ligand-gated receptor channels such as NMDA, AMPA, and kainate receptors involved in fast excitatory synaptic transmission.
Recent findings show that glutamate also regulates enzymes producing second messengers via G-protein-coupled receptors known as metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs).
- Group I receptors (mGluR1a, mGluR5): Stimulate phospholipase C, increasing phosphoinositide turnover and calcium release.
- Group II and III receptors (mGluR2, mGluR3): Inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity.
