Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with human protein kinase A (PKA) catalytic (PKAc) alpha subunit and weakly with PKAc gamma subunit (both ~40 kDa).
The recognized epitope of PKAc alpha is identical among human, sheep, pig, ox, and dog.
Target Information
Protein kinase A (PKA, cAMP-dependent protein kinase) is a key component in cellular signaling related to the cell cycle, communication, memory formation, and behavior.
PKA consists of two catalytic (PKAc) and two regulatory (PKAr) subunits. Upon cAMP binding, the complex dissociates into a PKAr dimer and two activated PKAc monomers.
Activated PKAc can translocate into the nucleus to regulate nuclear hormone receptor activation. PKAc-mediated activation of tonicity-dependent gene expression occurs independently of cAMP.
Humans express three PKAc subunits: alpha (ubiquitous), beta, and gamma (testis-specific).
