Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of 0.2 µg CaMKII by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary.
Detects phosphorylated CaMKII from rat tissues. This antibody is specific for alpha and beta subunits of CaMKII only when phosphorylated at Thr-286/287 (in beta).
Target Information
Ca2+/Calmodulin-Dependent Protein Kinase II (CaM Kinase II) is a multifunctional calcium and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase that mediates cellular responses to various intercellular signals. It regulates synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter synthesis and release, gene expression, ion channel function, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal function, and Ca2+ homeostasis.
Phosphorylation of Thr286 on the kinase produces an autonomously active form of CaM Kinase II, while autophosphorylation of Thr305 inhibits its activity and reduces its association with the PSD, thereby affecting LTP and learning.
