Product Specific Information

The eBioH35-17.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8 beta molecule.
CD8 beta associates with CD8 alpha to form the CD8 alpha/beta heterodimer expressed on thymocytes and peripheral cytotoxic T cells.
CD8 binds to MHC class I and plays a role in T cell development and activation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes; ≤0.125 µg per test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Careful titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes.
It mediates efficient cell-cell interactions and acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by MHC class I molecules.
The functional coreceptor can be a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (alpha and beta chain).
Both chains share homology with immunoglobulin variable light chains.
This gene encodes CD8 beta chain isoforms; multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
A pseudogene is also located on chromosome 2.
