Product Specific Information

The SK1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD8a molecule (32–34 kDa), expressed as a heterodimer (CD8α/β) or homodimer (CD8α/α). CD8a is found on thymocytes, T cells, and NK cells, binding MHC class I and associating with tyrosine kinase p56lck to regulate T-cell development and activation.

Target Information

CD8 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein involved in T cell differentiation and activation. It acts as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC-I molecules. CD8α chain binds MHC-I and is expressed on T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells. Interaction with MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck recruitment, cytokine production, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation, essential for immune defense and tumor clearance.
