Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts only with human serum albumin, a 65–67 kDa monomeric protein in human blood plasma produced in the liver. No cross-reactivity was observed with other serum proteins.
Target Information
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein (~65–67 kDa) comprising about half of the blood serum protein. Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in plasma, with a serum half-life of approximately 20 days. It functions mainly as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume.
Albumin binds water, Ca²⁺, Na⁺, K⁺, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs. Its principal role is regulating the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood.
