This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD106 antigen (VCAM-1), a 100–110 kDa type I membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. VCAM-1 is a crucial mediator of leukocyte adhesion and a costimulation molecule.
Target Information
VCAM-1 is a cell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activated endothelium. It regulates leukocyte migration, leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion, and signal transduction, and may play a role in several inflammatory diseases.
