Target Information
GRP94 is a 803 amino acid protein belonging to the heat shock protein 90 family. It acts as a molecular chaperone involved in the processing and transport of secreted proteins. GRP94 and its N-terminal fragment stimulate CTL expansion and maturation of human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (MDDC). It plays a central role in both innate and adaptive immunity, including dendritic cell chemotaxis, antibody production, and cross-priming. GRP94 is also associated with breast cancer as a potential marker and functions as a peptide acceptor in the endoplasmic reticulum, aiding MHC class I peptide loading. Expression of GRP94 suppresses apoptosis induced by A23187 and stabilizes calcium homeostasis. It is expressed in melanoma, liver metastases of colon carcinoma, and human gastric carcinoma BGC-823 cells.
