Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to opening. Product is stable at 4°C as undiluted liquid. Dilute only before immediate use.
For extended storage, mix with equal volume of glycerol, aliquot, and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Negligible cross-reactivity against other collagen types was detected by ELISA. Some anti-collagen antibodies may show reduced reactivity with denatured collagen or formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues.
This antibody reacts with most mammalian Type I collagens and shows negligible cross-reactivity with Type II–VI collagens. Non-specific cross-reaction with other serum or extracellular matrix proteins is negligible.
Target Information
Collagen I is a fibril-forming Type I collagen composed of two alpha-1 chains and one alpha-2 chain. It is abundant in bone, cornea, dermis, and tendon.
Mutations in the COL1A2 gene (encoding the alpha-2 chain) are linked to osteogenesis imperfecta types I–IV, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VIIB, classical Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, idiopathic osteoporosis, and atypical Marfan syndrome.
Reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 17 and 22, involving Collagen Type I genes and PDGF-beta gene, are associated with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
Two transcripts of Collagen I have been identified due to alternate polyadenylation signals.
