Target Information
SOX9는 Sertoli 세포의 성 결정 및 분화에 관여하며, 연골형성 과정(chondrogenesis)에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 이 유전자는 연골형성 관련 유전자의 발현을 조절하는 전사 인자로 작용합니다. SOX9의 전위(translocation)는 campomelic dysplasia를 유발할 수 있습니다. 또한 SOX9는 태아의 중성 생식선으로부터 고환 형성에 관여하며, 신경-교세포 전환(neuron-glia switch)의 주요 분자 구성요소입니다. 정상 발달 과정에서 SOX9는 전립선 상피가 간엽으로 성장하도록 돕고, 기저세포를 통해 상피 발달과 유지에 기여합니다. 전립선암에서는 이러한 기능이 종양 성장과 침습을 지원하는 방향으로 변형됩니다. SOX9는 신경능선 전구체 형성과 다양한 신경능선 유래 세포의 발달을 조절하며, 멜라닌 생성에도 관여합니다. Northern blot 분석 결과, 성인 고환, 성인 심장, 태아 뇌에서 발현이 확인되었습니다.
