Product Specific Information

The CD28.2 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD28 molecule, a 44 kDa homodimer expressed by thymocytes, mature T cells, and plasma cells.
CD28 acts as a ligand for CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2), serving as a potent co-stimulator of T cells. Signaling through CD28 enhances IL-2 and IL-2 receptor expression and increases cytotoxicity of CD3-activated T cells.

• Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test (100 µL final volume).

• Recommended Filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent
• Laser: Violet Laser

Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T-cell surface glycoprotein, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes and provides the critical co-stimulatory signal for T-cell activation via binding to CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells.
CD28 prevents T cells from entering an anergic or apoptotic state.
In mice, CD28 is expressed on CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in peripheral lymphoid organs and blood, with highest expression on immature thymocytes.
Dysfunction of CD28 is associated with diseases such as mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
