Product Specific Information

• Source: Monoclonal antibody obtained by fusing the P3-X63-Ag8-U1 mouse myeloma cell line with spleen cells of BALB/c mouse after immunization with human breast tumor cell line MCF-7.
• Specificity: Specifically reacts with human E-cadherin and inhibits E-cadherin–dependent cell-cell contact.
• Cross Reactivity: Reacts with guinea pig E-cadherin; does not react with bovine, dog, rat, or chicken E-cadherin.
• Storage: Store at 4°C. No preservative included. Stock solution (2.0 mg/mL) can be stored at -20°C for 1 year or at 4°C for 6 months after adding 0.1% sodium azide. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Diluted antibody should not be stored.
• Reconstitution: Dissolve lyophilized antibody in 50 µL of distilled water (final concentration: 2.0 mg/mL). Use as stock solution or dilute with appropriate buffer immediately before use. For short-term use, dissolve directly in 500 µL or more of dilution solution. Maintain minimum concentration of 2.0 mg/mL for stability. Reconstituted solution should contain 0.1% sodium azide when stored at 4°C.
• Note: Buffers should contain Ca²⁺ to stabilize cadherin antigen.

Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein from the cadherin superfamily. It consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to tumor progression by enhancing proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. It also mediates bacterial adhesion and internalization. E-cadherin plays a central role in maintaining epithelial integrity and tissue architecture.
