Source:
Monoclonal antibody obtained by fusing mouse myeloma cell line P3-X63-Ag8-U1 with spleen cells of Wistar rat immunized with chick embryo nervous tissue. The antibody was harvested from ascitic fluid of SCID mice.

Specificity:
Specifically reacts with chicken N-cadherin and inhibits N-cadherin dependent cell-cell contact.

Cross Reactivity:
Reacts with Xenopus N-cadherin. Does not react with human or mouse N-cadherin.

Storage:
Store at 4°C. No preservative included.
Stock solution (2.0 mg/mL) can be stored in aliquots at -20°C for 1 year, or at 4°C for 6 months after adding 0.1% sodium azide. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Reconstitution:
Dissolve lyophilized antibody in 50 µL distilled water (final concentration: 2.0 mg/mL).
If dilution is required, use dilution buffer just prior to use.
Maintain a minimum concentration of 2.0 mg/mL for stability.
Reconstituted solution should contain 0.1% sodium azide when stored at 4°C.

Note:
Buffers should contain Ca²⁺ to stabilize cadherin antigen.

Target Information

N-cadherin is a 140 kDa transmembrane protein that mediates calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion. It plays a crucial role in morphogenetic movements during development and regulates cell surface adhesion through homotypic interactions. Its function depends on association with the actin cytoskeleton via catenin proteins, regulated by β-catenin phosphorylation. N-cadherin contains five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. It is essential during gastrulation and for establishing left-right asymmetry.
