Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of BCL-2 only when phosphorylated at Serine 70.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that can inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family form dimers to modulate apoptosis. Bag1 interacts with BCL-2 to enhance its anti-apoptotic effect, while Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis. Overexpression of BCL-2, often due to translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is implicated in follicular lymphoma and other cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer. Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ in their C-terminal ends.
