OCT1 (POU2F1)는 널리 발현되는 전사 인자로, 옥타머 모티프(5'-ATTTGCAT-3')에 결합하여 일부 snRNA 및 히스톤 H2B, 면역글로불린 등의 유전자 프로모터를 활성화합니다. 또한 NR3C1, AR, PGR에 의해 매개되는 전사 활성화를 조절합니다. 인간 헤르페스 심플렉스 바이러스(HSV) 감염 시, POU2F1은 VP16 및 HCFC1과 함께 다단백질-DNA 복합체를 형성하여 바이러스의 즉시 초기 유전자 전사를 가능하게 합니다.
