Target Information
Ribosomal Protein S20 (RPS20) is a 119-amino-acid cytoplasmic protein component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. It binds independently to its target protein and interacts with both the 5′ and 3′ minor domains of 16S rRNA, playing a key role in nucleating assembly of the 30S ribosomal subunit.
The RPS20 gene is co-transcribed with the small nucleolar RNA gene U54 and exists as multiple processed pseudogenes throughout the genome.
