Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes HIV-1 subtypes A, B, and C, and has been mapped to amino acids 62–68 (EEEVGFP – B subtype consensus).
This clone may also be referred to as N5 (01-011).
Target Information
HIV-1 Nef is one of the accessory proteins synthesized in the early stage of AIDS virus reproduction and is abundantly found in infected cells. Initially named for its “negative factor,” Nef is now recognized as a key protein contributing to the distinctive biological characteristics of the AIDS virus.
It interacts directly with host T-cell signal transduction proteins, influencing infection efficiency, long-term survival of infected cells, and inducing apoptosis in non-infected cells.
Nef also participates in the endocytosis and degradation of cell surface receptors such as CD4 and MHC, which are critical for HIV infection.
